Canalys released a report stating that in the fourth quarter of 2020, TWS headphones (true wireless) and wearable watches became important supporting devices for smartphones. The latest statistical data from Canalys shows that as two sub markets in the consumer level Internet of Things field, personal intelligent audio and wearable wristband devices reached new heights in 2020. In 2020, personal intelligent audio devices increased by 20% to 432 million units, while wearable wristband devices increased by 10% to 185 million units. IT Home learned that the report points out that driven by strong consumer demand and a strategic shift in the supplier ecosystem, TWS earphones (true wireless) and wearable watches (including basic watches and smartwatches) have emerged as the two dominant categories, accounting for more than half of their respective market segments' shipments. Canalys stated that on the other hand, the wearable wristband device market began to significantly tilt towards wearable watches by the end of 2020. Considering the constraints on the supply chain due to component shortages, Canalys predicts that personal intelligent audio will grow by 15.6% to 500 million units, and wearable wristband devices are expected to grow by 10.2% to 204 million units.
