Analyst Ming Chi Kuo continued his report on the upcoming Apple AR earphones, detailing their expected weight - as well as the weight of subsequent devices already under development. Following his report that Apple AR earphones will have M1 level processing power, respected analyst Guo Mingyi reported more details. Specifically, he reported that the weight of the first device was between 300 and 400 grams. This is approximately between 0.7 pounds and 0.9 pounds. In contrast, the aluminum 41mm Apple Watch Series 7 weighs 32 grams, or 0.07 pounds. The iPhone 13 weighs 174 grams, or 0.38 pounds. Kuo reported that he expects Apple to sell 2.5 to 3.5 million units of this first generation earphone. According to reports, the second generation model already under development will be lighter and more powerful. It is said that the second design will be launched in the second half of 2024, and Guo expects Apple's sales to reach 10 million units. Kuo also repeated his previous report that the first generation headphones will be hybrid reality, which means they will be used for AR and virtual reality. Additionally, other reports suggest that Apple may release Apple AR headphones on WWDC 2022. However, the complexity of production may mean that the release time may be long before the equipment is shipped.
