According to CETT's report, supply chain sources say that the development of Apple's M2 series processors is nearing completion, and TSMC is about to use a 4nm process. The M2 processor is expected to be launched in the second half of 2022, and the M2Pro and M2Max are expected to be launched in the first half of 2023. The update cycle for AppleSilicon is every 18 months.
According to the report, Apple will first launch its M2 processor codenamed Staten in the second half of 2022, and another M2X new processor architecture codenamed Rhodes will be launched in the first half of 2023. Two processors, M2Pro and M2Max, will be released based on different GPU cores. Apple's M2 series processors are all produced in a 4nm process, and after an 18 month cycle of upgrading to the M3 series processor, it is expected to achieve mass production in TSMC's 3nm process.
Apple has launched a new generation of M1Pro and M1Max designed for Mac this year. The maximum CPU performance improvement for M1Pro and M1Max is M1, which is faster compared to it. For example, compiling code using Xcode allows for faster processing than before. Compared with M1Pro, the graphics processor speed of M1Pro has increased by more than twice, and the improvement in M1Max is even greater.
